Review of Prime Casino

Prime Casino is a new operation established in 2007 by the Prime Gaming group, which encompasses PrimePoker, PrimeBackgammon, and PrimeScratchcards, in addition to the casino. Compared to a few other recent entrants to the online casino world that we won’t mention here, Prime appears to have done their homework – the Casino is accredited with eCOGRA and is fully licensed under the Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority. However, unlike the majority of other casinos using Microgaming software, Prime does not accept customers from the USA.
Microgaming Software

Prime Casino uses the excellent MIcrogaming software suite, offering over 280 games for you to try your luck at. The gaming interface has been refined after years of experience at Microgaming so will find the software not only easy to use, but inclusive of features that most other software providers lack, such as autoplay on video poker and blackjack.

Along with the quality software comes the huge jackpots offered by Microgaming casino slots. Currently the Mega Moolah slot jackpot stands at just below a staggering USD$5 million.
Secure and eCOGRA accredited

Prime Casino is accredited with online casino regulation authority eCOGRA, assuring you of a safe and secure place to play. eCOGRA publishes results of its monthly audits, and you can read these reports by clicking the eCOGRA logo on Prime’s website, or the one on this page just above this review. A recent published audit (November 2008) places Prime’s payout rate across all games at 96.4%, and looking back through the last six months or so of audits it looks like the payout varies between 95 and 98%.
Loyalty Program for regular players

Prime Casino is keen to form lasting relationship with their customers, and to do this they offer a loyalty program to encourage repeat visits. You earn a comp point (they call it a “Prime Loyalty Point”) for every $10 you wager at the casino, and 1000 comp points earns you $10 cash placed into your casino account. There is a tiered scheme whereby you can earn bonus comp points if you are a heavy player – e.g. earn 10000 comp points in one month and they will give you an extra 10% free, earn over 30000 in one month and they will give you 25% extra. Also, new customers are given 500 comp points just for signing up to the casino.
Sign-up Bonus

Perhaps the only thing that has not really impressed us about Prime Casino is their sign-up bonus for new players. On face value the 100% match bonus seems pretty good, but steep wagering requirements mean it will take quite a while for you to clear the funds in your account. On a positive note though, you are able to play any game you like even if you accept the bonus, it’s just that certain games do not count towards clearing the wagering requirements. As mentioned above, new players also receive 500 comp points when signing up.
The Verdict

Prime Casino is a solid entrant into the crowded online casino marketplace. Prime Gaming has ticked all the right boxes as far as player safety, transparency, and security of operations are concerned. The choice of Microgaming as a software provider is a solid one, and despite not offering an outrageous welcome bonus for new players, the resistance to offer crazy, unsustainable deals indicates to us that these guys are in there for the long haul. Recommended.
